Pudding Play

We invited Alex over to paint and play with chocolate pudding.  At first, both boys were a little unsure what to do and wanted it off, but after a few minutes, they both got into it.
 The spatula was tickling Hudson

Hudson enjoyed sampling the pudding
The best picture we could get of the boys

Alex enjoyed making a dirt-pudding concoction.
Then the best part was getting sprayed at the end

The Weekend

Saturday night we walked to The Crave Festival.   We are loving being so close to everything and being able to walk to a lot of events.   Local restaurants gave out samples.  Everything we had was really good.  Chris, Amanda, and Alex came with us.
The best picture I could get of the boys before we left.
We got Hudson's face painted.  He sat still like a big boy.  The paint tickled him, it was cute.
Alex and Batman
It was such a beautiful evening!
I put Hudson's batman shirt on and then took him into the bathroom to get a picture of him looking at himself.  He thought he looked really cool.
Hudson was not up for posing

Date Night

Last night our church hosted a date night.  They provided child care and a delicious dinner.  We were super excited to go and had an awesome time!  I hope it's an annual or semi-annual event.  The weather was just perfect.

Our little photo bomber - Hudson saw us posing and ran over and jumped in at the last minute
They even had a special surprise - a ferris wheel waiting on us when we got there.  Appetizers were being served in the white tent
My newest friend Kristin and her husband, Rob
Possibly the two best neighbors ever, Chris and Amanda
Sweet picture of Todd and Kristin
Cuties Amanda and Chris
Did I mention that we had a great time?!
Our Sunday School teachers, Greg and Rebecca on the left and Todd and Kristin on the right playing The Newlywed Game.  They were all on the same team and won a really nice gift card
There was even a Dancing With The Staff competition and a regular dance competition.  There were some amazing dancers out there.  We happily sat and watched them all.
We all decided to take the kids on the ferris wheel once the evening was over.  They all Loved it!
Madison was so excited that she could barely take standing in line

There was a photo booth where we got some great pics
The guy running the booth even let all of us in together.  Great memories with some great friends!

Grandparent Visit

My parent's came down to Lexington two weekends ago.  We had a fun visit despite Hudson not feeling the best.  Friday morning he woke up with a fever and it continued off and on thru Sunday.  Poor thing, he then developed a rash all over his body.  Thankfully he was better after a few days.  We had a great time hanging out with my parents and they loved getting to love on Hudson and he soaked up every minute of it.

Run for the Refuge

Saturday Brian and I ran the Refuge For Women 5k at our church.  It was the 3rd annual race and it is always a lot of fun.  I ran a few times before the race, but that was it and Brian didn't practice at all.  We actually didn't do too bad.  We finished in the top 1/3.  I can't remember the exact time, but it was decent considering we didn't train.  Brian pushed Hudson in the stroller for probably 2 1/2 miles and I pushed him the last 1/2 mile.  The temp was 50 when we started which is just a little too cool for me.  I had Hudson bundled and wrapped in a blanket.  He loved riding and enjoyed watching everyone.  This is such an important ministry.  They rescue women out of the sex industry, the ladies live in a house with a mentor mom for a year, get counselling, job training, and seriously loved on.
Proverbs 31:10  "For her worth is far above rubies"
The Chick-Fil-A cow was there to cheer us on.  Hudson was so excited to run up and hug him.

Trail Pix

Hudson school update- he has been doing so well.  Yesterday he whimpered when I dropped him off, but didn't cry and the teachers said he did great.  A Major Praise!
A couple of weeks ago, I had one of the girls I used to work with take some pictures for us.  She captured some really cute shots.  I'm glad Hudson was in a great mood and a little ham.  There is a really nice walking trail near us, so we got out on it and had a little photo session.  I love all the colors.
Probably my favorite shot
We were trying to be creative to keep Hudson's attention.
Hammin' it up!
Hudson was running over to check out Brittany's camera and help her out
Love this picture!!

Thanks Sweet Brittany!

Update-Reason for Our Stress

Hope y'all had a great Labor Day weekend.  We did.  We're sad to see Summer at an end.  We traveled a lot, hung out with friends a lot, enjoyed watching Hudson learn and try new things (He loves swimming!), sold our house and bought a new house.

We actually found a fixer upper in a great neighborhood with a park, pool, walking trails, and dear friends who live right across the street.  We put in an offer before we listed our house and it was accepted, so we immediately listed our house and thankfully we ended up selling it fast.  We had hoped to have a few weeks before we sold our old house to do some renovation work in the new house, but things got really messed up and we closed 1 day apart.
---Here's the Story ---We closed on our new house June 24th and got in and started doing demolition work right away - tore out the carpet, ripped out the counter top, and started removing wallpaper.  We got a call June 26th that the seller's agent messed up 1 page of paperwork and our closing was considered null and void and we had to get out of the house.  We were told we were trespassing.  We had to get everything out of the house and wait for a new closing date.  Talk about a mess!  Nobody was interested in helping fix the situation except our realtor.  Finally, after multiple calls, emails, and paperwork we were able to close again July 11 and then we closed on our old house July 12.  Everything was really messed up.  Thankfully, our dear friends let us live in their basement for about 2 weeks while we worked on the new house.   They were such a blessing and could not have been any nicer.  Thanks Amanda and Chris if you read this.

So...we've been in our house about a month now and are making really good progress.  Brian and I put in new hardwood floors ourselves (I found out that I'm a little bit handy).  Our carpet was messed up.  They ordered the wrong stuff and 2 weeks later still had the wrong carpet, so they actually upgraded our carpet and pad, so that was nice.  We have been slowly painting and are currently working on our kitchen.  A lawn crew is here today and tomorrow.  They are making great progress.  Of course, everything is much harder and takes a lot longer with Hudson around, but that's okay.

God is really trying to teach me patience.  I'm a work in progress.  We're so thankful for this house.  It's just minutes away from church, grocery stores, shopping, friends, you name it.  We pray that God will use it to be a blessing to others and everyone here feels welcomed and loved.
