Hope y'all had a great Labor Day weekend. We did. We're sad to see Summer at an end. We traveled a lot, hung out with friends a lot, enjoyed watching Hudson learn and try new things (He loves swimming!), sold our house and bought a new house.
We actually found a fixer upper in a great neighborhood with a park, pool, walking trails, and dear friends who live right across the street. We put in an offer before we listed our house and it was accepted, so we immediately listed our house and thankfully we ended up selling it fast. We had hoped to have a few weeks before we sold our old house to do some renovation work in the new house, but things got really messed up and we closed 1 day apart.
---Here's the Story ---We closed on our new house June 24th and got in and started doing demolition work right away - tore out the carpet, ripped out the counter top, and started removing wallpaper. We got a call June 26th that the seller's agent messed up 1 page of paperwork and our closing was considered null and void and we had to get out of the house. We were told we were trespassing. We had to get everything out of the house and wait for a new closing date. Talk about a mess! Nobody was interested in helping fix the situation except our realtor. Finally, after multiple calls, emails, and paperwork we were able to close again July 11 and then we closed on our old house July 12. Everything was really messed up. Thankfully, our dear friends let us live in their basement for about 2 weeks while we worked on the new house. They were such a blessing and could not have been any nicer. Thanks Amanda and Chris if you read this.
So...we've been in our house about a month now and are making really good progress. Brian and I put in new hardwood floors ourselves (I found out that I'm a little bit handy). Our carpet was messed up. They ordered the wrong stuff and 2 weeks later still had the wrong carpet, so they actually upgraded our carpet and pad, so that was nice. We have been slowly painting and are currently working on our kitchen. A lawn crew is here today and tomorrow. They are making great progress. Of course, everything is much harder and takes a lot longer with Hudson around, but that's okay.
God is really trying to teach me patience. I'm a work in progress. We're so thankful for this house. It's just minutes away from church, grocery stores, shopping, friends, you name it. We pray that God will use it to be a blessing to others and everyone here feels welcomed and loved.
