Food Fun

Over the past few weeks Hudson started taking a real interest in food.  He started grabbing at our food desperate to try it and opening his mouth real wide expecting some.  I was planning on waiting another month, but felt Hudson was letting us know he was ready.  So we decided to try out some rice cereal and he LOVED IT!!  I thought it would take some time for him to get used to it, but he loved it immediately.
Here is the happy guy before dinner - he seemed to know he was in for a treat
First bite- he couldn't get it in his mouth fast enough - he kept trying to help
I think he wanted me to pour it down his throat
Do you think he was enjoying himself?
More assistance
My parents were here and also really enjoyed watching his first meal

Spring in the South

Spring is not my favorite season (summer is because of the heat), but I love spring in the south.  The flowers and colors are so beautiful and the air has such an amazing scent.  Spring has been wonderful this year- 70-80 degrees.  I keep reminding myself not to get too attached because we could still end up with a snowstorm.  A few years ago in April, Brian and I went on vacation and left Lexington in shorts and when we flew back it was 32 degrees and snowing.  Poor Brian had to scrape the car in shorts and a tee shirt while I waited with the luggage in the airport.  We got some weird looks.  It didn't even occur to us to think about bringing warm clothes.
Love the pond and tulips in this first picture

Azaleas
Our house - wish  I had chosen a sunny day - looks dreary

Weeping Cherry in the front of our house
Hyacinths?
Beautiful sunsets
Loving the warmer weather!!

Grandpa and Nana

Hudson is one loved little boy - he's so blessed to have 4 awesome grandparents.  He gets so spoiled when they visit.  He never gets put down and loves all the attention.

Playing is exhausting

Poor guy - I walked away for just a couple of minutes and when I came back, he was asleep.  That's what happens  when you only nap for 20 minutes instead of your normal 2 hours.

Happy 4 months

~Hudson~

You are 4 months old now!  Wow!
You weigh 13 # 15 oz = 29%
Your length is 24" = 16%
Your head is 43 cm = 69%
You are my little bobblehead- tiny body and big head.
You  still fit into 0-3 month clothes mostly.  You are wearing a few 3-6 month clothes and jammies.  I think all of your weight is in your cheeks and head.
You eat a lot!  You are eating 5-6 times/day but sometimes you need an extra feeding or two.  Unfortunately I have had to give you 2 oz formula every now and then because I can't keep up with your demand.  You take about 36-38 oz breast milk per day.
You are now wearing size 2 diapers.
You stay awake anywhere from 1-2 hours after eating.  You still like Sophie the giraffe that Nana bought you and the plastic hole ball Uncle Clint and Aunt Anne bought you.  You like your playmat with keyboard kick plate and are really liking your jumper and bouncer.
The weather has been great so we have been able to get out on several walks which you seem to really like.
You are continuing to smile more and more - I'm finally getting some pictures of your smiles.  You are definitely becoming a little charmer - you smile really easily at everyone.
You still really like being held - we can't put you down for too long.  Although, you don't want to sit still, you want to stand all the time.
You have started flipping from your stomach to your back.
Your eyes still look like a deep blue color.
Your hair is continuing to lighten and is now a dark blonde/light brown.
You still like the tv and are transfixed, but we don't let you watch it, we still turn you away. Although, sometimes we are exhausted and let you stare at it for a few minutes to keep you happy.
For some reason, you have been fussier this past month. - When you have 2 - two hour naps and a couple of 45 min naps you are really happy, but it is difficult to get you to take 2 -two hour naps.  You usually sleep for 2 hours in the morning and then 45 min naps the rest of the day.
You are sleeping about 10 hours per night.   You go to sleep pretty easily, thankfully, but this past month has been rough sleep wise.  You have been waking up a minimum of 1-2 times per night.  You are waking up happy, it's so sweet seeing you on the monitor wake up cooing and then come in and get you and you smile at us -it's hard to be annoyed at 2 am when you are so happy.
Everything goes in your mouth these days
Always on the move
Your fist tastes good
Teddy tastes good
You are really filling out
Practicing your whistling skills
My little leprechaun
3-6 month outfit - still kind of big and long

You are our sweet, precious gift from God!   We are so...thankful for you.  We love you so much!

1/3 of a year

Hudson's 4 month appt is Monday, so I'll post his info after his appt, but I did want to get a picture of the little guy.  He doesn't want to hold still, he is busy like his daddy.

Guess Who?

Guess who slept 10 hours last night?

This guy

Guess who's a new mommy and daddy?

This girl and guy

It's amazing what 1 good nights sleep will do for you.
Hudson has only slept through the night 2 times in the past 2 1/2 weeks.  So thankful for last night.  I'm hoping we're getting back on the right track.

Thanks Beth for your advice.  I think you're right-he's a baby and it takes time.  I have the B@by Whisperer but need to re-read it.

Can You Believe It?

Can you believe that this sweet little face was up at 10 pm, 11 pm, midnight, 2 am, and 4 am?
Little stinker!  This face says, "Are you talking about me?"

I had to get up and re-swaddle him at 10 pm and put his paci back in his mouth.  I let him cry it out  for 15 min, but he was absolutely screaming.  As soon as I re-swaddled him and put the paci in his mouth, he was asleep within 5 min.  At 11, 12, and 2 he was able to put himself back to sleep (he still woke me up, though).  At 4 I had to change his diaper.  He was sleeping through the night for a good month, but for the past 2 wks, he has gotten up at least once a night.  It's awful!  I miss my sleep.  I have been doing b@bywise.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  He is easy to go back to sleep and doesn't need fed, but I don't know why he is waking up in the first place.  I started putting bigger diapers on him at night to see if that would help - so far it hasn't.  It gets better, right?

Boys

Tonight we put Hudson in our church nursery for the first time and he did great.  I think he had a really good time.  He had several college age girls who got to love on him and spoil him - so what's not to love?.  Afterwards, Chris, Amanda, Alex, Brian, Hudson, and I went to P@nar@ Bread.  We wanted to eat someplace fast just in case the babies lost it.  It was really nice hanging out with them and getting out of our house.  We're slowly getting out more with Hudson - it's getting easier - thankfully.
Here are a few pictures:  Chris entertaining Hudson and Alex

Snow Day

The weather went from 70 degrees and strong storms on Friday to 30 degrees and 5" of snow today - more snow than we've had all season.   I talked Brian into taking the day off and hanging out at home with us.
My big boy checking out the snow
View of our backyard - so pretty
