Little Chair

Hudson is loving this little chair that has been in Brian's family for over 100 years.  He looks like such a big boy sitting in it.

Guest Post

Hi, there!  It's me, Hudson and I'm filling in today.  Mom is busy, so I thought I'd do some blogging for her.  Life has been great lately now that  I can move.   I have even started pulling myself up.  I'm so proud of myself every time  I do it.

Grandpa and Nana came for a visit last week and we had a blast!  Grandpa does all kinds of fun things with me.  He lets me ride on his shoulders.  I don't look thrilled, but I really was having a good time.

He lets me crawl all over him.

We even went swimming Kentucky style - cut off jean shorts.  Oh, Grandpa!   I loved the hose.  I kept trying to catch the water.

He played with me after my bath

Nana fed me a lime and boy was it sour!!  I kept going back to it expecting the taste to get better, but it never did.

On Saturday I went swimming with my friend Madison.  Isn't she cute?   I dig the older ladies.

That's me chewing on the "community" ball.  Hey, if it gets near me, it's going in my mouth.

It's been a really fun week.  Hope next week is even better.

Happy Father's Day

Hudson and I wanted to wish you a very Happy Father's Day!  You're a great dad and Hudson lights up whenever he sees you.  You have such a kind and caring heart.  It's so fun watching you play with Hudson - things are going to keep getting better and better with him.  I see lots of legos, star wars, and water gun and balloon fights in your future.   We love you!  Enjoy your day!

We tried to get a few pictures today before church - didn't go as well as we had hoped, but oh, well.

Poor guy has only worn shoes a few times in his life.  Either he pulls them off or they fall off on their own or they leave big red marks on his feet from being too tight.  So, until he is walking, I'm probably not going to put shoes on him very often.

Here are just a few of the outtakes - we had several.
"What?!  I can't hear what you're sayin!"

"Oh, did you say stick my tongue out?"

"No?  How about wave?"

"Rip dad's tie off?"

"Fall backwards?"

"Rip mom's earring out?"
Ahh... Life with a 7 month old.  Wouldn't trade it for anything  ;)

Also, Happy Father's Day to my dad and Brian's dad.  We're so thankful for both of you.  We couldn't ask for better dads.  We love you!

Happy 7 months

I'm not sure how much you weigh, but I'm guessing 17 1/2 pounds.
A lot has changed from last month.  You sit really well on your own, but it scares you every time you fall over.  You are officially doing a form crawling and into everything!!  I am constantly grabbing you to keep you from chewing on the dog's bed, the carpet, cords, strings, and anything else you can get your mouth on.
You are jabbering a lot these days - saying da da da da da da,  na na na na, mum mum mum. You still love blowing raspberries.

You love your little pool and splashing around.
You caught your first little virus last month.  Thankfully it was only 3 days that you weren't feeling well, but it was a long 3 days for your mom and dad.
You are wearing 6-9 month clothes mostly, but still a few 3-6 months.
You are still eating a lot!  You still take 5 bottles per day. I stopped breastfeeding last month, it makes me sad that I gave up, but I'm glad we made it that far.  You are eating cereal in the am and a fruit and vegetable at lunch, and a fruit and vegetable in the evening.   I am still preparing everything.   You are eating avocados, sweet potatoes, bananas, carrots, peas, and puffs.  I've started giving you a sippy cup and so far you're not too fond of it, you haven't figured out how to get the water out.  I have been pouring water in your mouth and you really like the taste.
You are still wearing a size 3 diaper.  Diaper changes have been difficult lately, you want to flip over on your stomach every time we change you and we have to nearly wrestle you to flip you back over and keep you on  your back.  We're both usually sweating by the time we're done.
You still like Sophie the giraffe and anything else you can chew on.  You like your walker, but overall, your favorite thing is being able to move.  You love moving!
The weather has still been great so we have been able to get out and walk pretty regularly and you love it.  You love looking at everything.  You love sitting on our deck with us and watching the birds, that is about the only time you'll just sit and relax on our laps.

You love trying to chase after the dogs.
You still really like being held but still want to stand all the time.
We're wondering if you're starting to experience some separation anxiety, you occasionally cry when we leave the room.
Your eyes still look like a deep blue color, but we are starting to see some grey also.
Your hair is blonde.

You are sleeping about 11 1/2 hours per night.   You go to sleep pretty easily, thankfully.  You stay awake 2-3 hours at a time now.  Naps are still awful right now, you are still taking 3 per day.  You have only been napping 35 min at a time.  A few times per week you will sleep 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours - I'm ready for that to become normal.  For a few weeks now, you have been sleeping on your side or stomach.  Sometimes you really scare me because you will be on your stomach face down and occasionally your knees will be tucked up under your stomach with your bottom in the air- it's really cute, but I don't like seeing you face down.  We're thankful for the Angel Care monitor.

Yesterday we just noticed your first tooth popping up (your bottom left) - made me realize that you won't be a baby forever :(
This past month was the most fun we've had with you.  You have been so happy.  I really do believe it is because you are moving.

You are so active.

Love this picture of you

You are our sweet, precious gift from God.
We love you!  Happy 7 months

Here are a few of my favorite pictures recently.  I posted them on facebook, but I also wanted them on my blog since I get a book every year

I walked in the kitchen for a minute and this was how I found Hudson when I came back.  He's so fast.  Hudson was so proud of himself for crawling up there.
The easiest way to get down - go head first

Hudson started working on crawling a few weeks ago- he has improved since this picture
Bottoms Up!

Busy Weekend

We were in Indiana this past weekend for my dear friend Cheryl's wedding.  The wedding was Friday night at 5:30 pm and we arrived in town at 4.  We left Hudson with my parents and I quickly went over his schedule with my mom and got ready.  The wedding and reception were beautiful and it was great seeing all of our friends.  We miss them so much.  It's so fun watching a wedding knowing that the two people getting married waited on God's best for them.  I know without a doubt that they'll have a long, happy, Christ centered marriage.  I had tears the whole ceremony.  Cheryl and I have been praying for each other's spouse since 2004, so it was really great seeing this prayer come true.
The unity candle wouldn't light -they tried for several minutes.
The Bridal party praying for the happy couple
Cheryl's sisters - Cami on the left and Cara on the right sang a beautiful song - just a little blurry

Stephanie, me, Julie, and Sheri --I just met Stephanie that night, she was really sweet.  She married our friend Troy

They had great dancing
I was able to talk to Cheryl for about 5 minutes, but forgot to get a picture with her.  She looked so beautiful and was glowing.  I'm so happy for her.

The next day we went swimming.  It was Hudson's first time in a big pool.  The water was quite cool and at first he was unsure and I couldn't get a smile out of him - Mr. Serious
Once he got used to the water, he was all smiles again
We only stayed about 35 minutes and then left to go to Brian's parents for the afternoon.  Hudson was really tuckered out.  He fell asleep within the first minute of being in his car seat.
Grandma and Grandpa playing with Hudson

We had pizza for lunch and strawberry shortcake for dessert- yum!

Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of my parents with Hudson.  Such a fun, but busy weekend.

Oh, I almost forgot - We have a new nephew.  Cooper Stephan was born 6/5/12.  He weighed 8 lbs and was 22 1/2 inches long.  Congratulations Brittany and Chris!!  We can't wait to meet him.   He's so cute!!
